Tonight... let's PACK THE ROOM! 💪🏽

Tonight, the Bridgeport DTC will hold another meeting - and we need YOU to pack the room!

Eye-level view of a community gathering with people discussing ideas
Community members engaging in a discussion about progressive policies.

At the March 12th meeting, Mario Testa (who was re-elected as Chair but not without a fight!) attempted to re-elect his out-of-town treasurer. Marie Heller has lived in Shelton for over a decade. And despite being in direct violation of our bylaws, she's also been the Treasurer of the Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee for over a decade.

From 2016 - 2026, under her and Mario's leadership, the Bridgeport DTC has never voted on a budget. They have never voted on expenditures. So most town committee members have no idea that in the last decade:

  • $22,282.50 of the party's money has gone to Testo's Restaurant

  • $38,713.73 of the party's money has gone to paying SEEC fines and legal fees related to absentee ballot fraud

  • $4,700 of the party's money has gone to Marie Heller herself, labeled as "WAGE"

  • ... and more which you can see for yourself HERE

Fortunately, on March 12th we forced them to table Heller's re-election, as the Connecticut Democratic Party made it clear in its 2025 ruling that the Bridgeport DTC must fix its bylaws. The election gets back underway tonight at 5:30pm - and Callie's name is in nomination! Please come out in support!

Most importantly, also on the agenda is the vote to approve delegates to state conventions (see attached). Mario Testa compiled and approved the list himself. And from the 130th District, the Democrats he wants to send to the State Convention for Governor are:

  • Scott Burns

  • Steve Stafstrom

  • Tom Gill

  • Danny Roach

  • Bonnie Roach

  • Joe Ganim

  • Paul Ganim

This is NOT what democracy looks like. On Tuesday, March 3rd 130th Democrats made it clear that this is NOT the delegation that we want representing our voices in Hartford.

That's why we need YOU to pack the room tonight at 5:30pm. Come stand in solidarity with us as we collaborate across districts with like-minded allies. As we make sure the rules and laws are followed. And as we hold Bridgeport Democratic Party leadership accountable to respect for democracy.

Sincerely,

130th Democrats For The People

P.S. If you can't make it tonight, we are hosting our first in-district quarterly meeting tomorrow Tuesday, 3/31 at 6:30pm at Wakeman Boys & Girls Club. Come "Meet The Democrats!" We'll talk about priority issues, develop a shared platform, and discuss endorsements for state offices this year. Flyer attached!
